Advantages of the virtual book fair over a website
Site navigation will give a bookfair kind of an experience which is unlikely to happen in a regular ecommerce website.
Unlike web pages in regular websites, publishers will have virtual shop fronts as a sub domain. Back link to the publisher’s independent website will also be given in case the customer prefers to purchase a book that is not listed in the VBF.
Besides front and back wrapper images and blurb of the book, a short bio of the publisher and other particulars like email address, contact details, location pointers, physical address will also be showcased.
The catalogue or brochure listed by the publishers on their independent site and the store front here will differ in this aspect: Storefront catalog will have only titles that are listed here. In the publishers site the customer might have access to his entire catalog including the ones that are currently out of print or out of stock. Customers can even download them through the backlinks.
The books can be searched genre wise and author wise as well.
Publishers are advised to design catalogs exclusively for the virtual bookfair’s market place in such a way the file size does not exceed the limit fixed for your slab.
Besides listing their books for sale here if the publishers want to get their blogs, cataloging site or a full website with payment gateway integration they will be guided by the technical team and leads to service providers could be shared.
Publishers who are enrolled as vendors in the virtual bookfair will have separate logins and dashboards where they can moderate reviews, manage catalog and process orders. Vendors can also take orders via calls and create an order on behalf of the customer.
Email sms and whatsapp notifications will also be sent to the registered mail ids and mobile numbers. It is the vendor’s responsibility to dedicate someone to process the orders on a daily basis.
We are in talks with professional couriers and few other service providers to tie up for a pickup based local, national and international shipping. The customer is free to choose any shipping method that can deliver to their location.
Subscribers will be charged uniformly as per the weight slab tariff as stipulated by the service provider irrespective of their order volumes. This subsidy could never be matched if the same publisher tries to tie up with the service provider individually.
Like in VPPs sent via India post, Cash on Delivery option can e availed. Additional charges will be negotiated. The COD amount will be credited in the respective vendor’s bank account by the shipping service provider.
We are also in talks with a delivery partner for daily pickup from the publishers.
The shipping charges could be paid by the vendor directly to the service provider on a monthly basis.
If the vendor fails to keep the product packed before the cutoff time given by the service provider for pick up, the vendor will have to hand it over to the nearest hub on the same day to avoid any complications in processing the order.
For operational convenience separate labels and packing materials could be given to the registered vendors\subscribers. It will be helpful for the service provider to fast track the orders that are place through the virtual book fair site.
A single order will be split into suborder and will be shipped by the corresponding publishers. But if the customer insists that all the books in a single order reach as a single parcel based on the proximity of the publications location arrangements will be made with the help of the listed service providers or a third party to pick up all the books, pack it and send it to the customer.
Since audio books and and ebooks attract GST, backlinks of the same from a different market place could be given until we develop a site separately for ebooks and audiobooks.
If an aggregator collects books from various publishers and ship it to a single customer it is the responsibility of the aggregator to pay the corresponding publishers post settlement at his end.
Magazines can use this platform to collect subscription
Newsletters with book fair notifications and publishing news from across the globe will reach all the subscribers
Customers can review the books which will be posted in the site after the publisher’s moderation. In case the publisher wants to future a review from an outside source (social\print media) the vendor can submit it to the admin which will be published by the admin post moderation. Any review will stay in the site for 15 days before being archived.
Every new title will be showcased as a new arrival for 15 days
Anyone who wants to get their ads featured in the virtual book fair will have to pay an advertisement cost on a monthly basis which is not inclusive of the designing charges. There are different formats :
a) JPG alone – Text alone
b) Audio based
c) Video based
Publishers can choose to be a part of virtual lit-fests by paying for the live slots. Publishers are solely responsible for the content moderation. If they chose to host a recorded content on the market place that will be charged based on the server space and other consumables. Otherwise the vendor can also choose to give hyperlinks to youtube\facebook\igtv videos free of cost.
Pre order ad campaigns could be run by the vendor if they are very sure of sticking to the time lines. If not they can simply feature them in the coming soon section.
Tariffs and rate slabs will be communicated shortly.
Regional language books and foreign language books will be charged equally.
